Price has been matched with Hammer on the undercard of Chris Eubank junior’s world title bill with Renold Quinlan at London’s Olympia on February 4.
The bill will be screened live by ITV on their pay per view channel.
Hammer holds stoppage defeats of Danny Williams and Michael Sprott on his 24-fight record, but was halted by Tyson Fury on his last visit to the UK in 2015.
In an ironic twist Hammer captured the WBO’s European title when he outpointed Erkan Teper, the fighter who was suspended for two years after failing a drugs test after beating Price in 2015.
The suspension, however, only applies to EBU-sanctioned fights.
Price’s camp is waiting to hear whether the WBO’s European belt will be up for grabs next month. But if so, victory for Price would put him in prime position for a shot at New Zealander Joseph Parker’s world crown.
Price has won two fights, each inside two rounds, since the controversial defeat to Teper.
Hammer, 29, is a former world junior champion who has four defeats on his 24-fight record.
Last month Price confirmed he had been contacted about a possible fight with Joseph Parker.
The New Zealander’s promoters revealed that Price was on a shortlist of possible opponents for Parker, who is expected to defend his WBO title on April 8.
Hughie Fury and American Jarrell Miller are also thought to be in contention, but victory for Price next month would increase his prospects of landing a world title shot.
